Neo Kyle
Neo Kyle, a 4 month old, 1.84 kg intact male Ragdoll Siamese cross presented initially with uveitis in the right eye and was treated with Tobradex starting August 13, 2021. The eye continued to worsen, became cloudy and the vet confirmed he had lost sight in the right eye. Uveitis began to develop in the left eye as well. The kitten experienced no other symptoms and his appetite and energy remained normal. Neo Kyle had a history of chronic URI. No neurological symptoms were noted. Bloodwork was unremarkable with no common FIP markers. A/G ratio was 0.8. FeLV/FIV test was negative. The veterinarian said ocular FIP was the most likely diagnosis.
August 19, 2021 treatment of GS injections was initiated at 10 mg/kg SID.
August 21, 2021 – the cloudiness in Neo Kyle’s right eye was rapidly disappearing and his sight was returning. The tobradex drops were stopped this same day. The uveitis that had developed in the left eye also completely cleared. The left eye had never been treated with eye drops.
Neo Kyle did well through treatment and blood work remained normal for FIP markers. Mildly elevated phosphorus and ALP were noted as is consistent with a growing kitten.
Nov 11, 2021 treatment was stopped. Neo Kyle’s eyes were clear, appetite and energy excellent and weight was 3.3 kg.
February 12, 2022 bloodwork was run and there were no concerns. Neo Kyle was deemed officially FIP free. To date he is a very healthy cat with no current medical concerns
